Be united to achieve Telangana: KCR

Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao today gave a call to all political parties to remain united and bring pressure on the Centre for creation of separate Telangana state.

“Now it all depends on political leadership of the region," he said and wanted legislators of all hues from Telangana to boycott the ensuing Assembly budget session. "If you do this, Telangana is a certainty," he said.

Chandrasekhar Rao, speaking at the launch of the joint action committee of Telangana engineers here, said that no one was afraid of battalions of police being requisitioned by the state from the Centre. If political battalions are in place and move forward, police battalions cannot do anything," he said.

The TRS chief said that there was no going back on Telangana demand at a time when the movement had reached a decisive stage. "Our march will continue till we reach our goal," he said.

He said entire Telangana population has been so sensitised on the demand that if the Centre went back on its promise, the government has to face the consequences.

Referring to the role that the Congress leaders have to play, Chandrasekhar Rao addressing the leaders on the dais, who included R Damodar Reddy and MP G Vivek, said if they remained united, Telangana should not be a problem.

Damodar Reddy said pressure would be built on the Centre to create a separate state. If that does not happen, the Telangana leaders would have no option but to take part in the TRS agitation. He recalled the Congress MPs making a representation to Sonia Gandhi in the party's plenary in Delhi.TRS leader T Harish Rao said very soon joint action committees of IAS and IPS officers from Telangana region would come up and the movement would become more intense.

Others who spoke included TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram, CPI leader G Mallesh, TPF chairman Gadar and Arunodaya leader Vimalakka.

The meeting was presided over by Telangana engineers joint action committee chairman T Venkatesh.
